the question I have is why now?

why not in 2004 when the PM promised us the heaven and earth? (to be fair, he did send ONE person into space).

why now after Yong Teck Lee made all those noises?

the manner it is done is open to question. 2 heads arrested so who is going to run the show?

the spade of arrest also reveal the mono racial representation in the department (albeit this relates more to the question that whether the adminsitration is a fair employer)

before we get carried away, the previous slightly high profile indictment of Eric Chia and Kasitah did not have kick start an intense and sustain effort that could offer a hope for change. Let's see how long things would last.

With the recent arrest of top imi officers, now we know how they come in or stay in. Makes me wonder, aren't the imi directors paid well? lagi mau cari makan...geezzzz. One corner receiving "bawah meja" and on the other, some "sultan" giving birth certs.

leguan
"Another step to be taken is ensuring that corruption among enforcement officers is kept to the minimum level."

Seems like the corruption is all the way up to the top. :)

I just wonder, by lowering the entry requirement for local universities, we are diverting supply of our own blue collar workers into a white collar worker pool. This causes a distortion.

In every country, there are people who are qualified to get into unversity while others failed to do so and entered into work force in more menial level.

Please note that I am not discriminating them. A country needs its professionals as well as road cleaners, gardeners, factory workers, waiters etc to keep it running.

At the end of the day, we might end up with people who could not measure up in his/her white collar role while the country has to lose foreign exchange to hire blue collar workers from other countries.

A lot of our own blue collar workers decided to work in Singapore, Europe etc because they can get more money there.

Why can't Malaysia offer a standard of earning, employment and living that is satisfactory to them?

Illegal foreign workers are often seen being rounded up by the police. A few hours later they were again found working at the same worksites. The problem is not going to be solved unless the authority tighten up the enforcement of preventing more illegal foreign workers. Another step to be taken is ensuring that corruption among enforcement officers is kept to the minimum level.

My sincere opinion,
1)should limit the foreign labours to certain industry only i.e construction or service sectors.
2)maybe by increasing levy, companies will opt to hire locals.

Sekiranya perancangan ini berjalan lancar - sounds like there is no confidence or don't want to do at all.

Kajian tersebut dijanka dapat dibentangkan sebelum akhir tahun ini - again no confidence. very bold target i should say. sigh!.
