Ability to communicate properly is a issue in Malaysia apparent in all walks of life. We are not Germans, Hong Kongers or Japanese who tend to make their points accross accurately and succintly.

Partly because our "Asian Culture" (which sometimes, I feel is overrated to preserve certain status quo) of not wanting confrontation; partly because our education train us as obedient workers and not thinkers; partly because the gomen may not see the need to develop out-spoken individuals with non-conformist view; partly because we still think rakyat serve gomen servants despite the term "servant" is attached to the description of the latter

A combination of factors that see many Malaysians not getting their points accross or getting themselves heard properly. Some perhaps giving up altogether and migrated.

I always think debating should be taught & practice widely at schools, from primary 4 .... unlike now where perhaps the top students are asked to represent their schools.

In this way, we can train rational, thinking younger generations who can articulate themselves well, unlike the majority in the present august house where the fate of the nation lies. It will also make our country more progressive, vibrant and competitive. And our newspapers more readable!
